In connection with maintenance work at the DNT hut Huldreheim, we at Resupply Norway were tasked with removing a small amount of demolition waste and a small boat. The task was carried out without the use of a helicopter, using a car and manual transport by one person.

The mega tough Toyota Hilux (dream car from 2001) was used to get as far as possible on the forest road. From there, we walked along a approximately 2 kilometer long path through the forest. The equipment and waste were transported out with a cart and trolley, spread over several trips.

Helicopter transport is a useful and absolutely necessary tool in many situations. In this case, the conditions made it possible to solve the task without flying, which reduced both costs and the burden on the area.

The assignment showed that in some cases it is possible to replace helicopters with simpler and more traditional transport methods , especially when access to roads is not too long. We share this as an example of how different solutions can be evaluated based on terrain, needs and logistics.

Below you can see a video from the mission.
